Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

This quick and flavorful dinner combines savory ground beef, tender noodles, and a sweet-and-salty Mongolian-inspired sauce.

Ingredients

For the Noodles
8 ounces linguine, spaghetti, lo mein noodles, or ramen noodles
Water for boiling
For the Beef
1 pound (450 g) lean ground beef
1 tablespoon vegetable or sesame oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
Mongolian Sauce
⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar
½ cup beef broth
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
4 green onions, sliced
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.
Stir in the garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, and hoisin sauce.
Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer.
