Foolproof Hard-Boiled Eggs (Easy Peel Method)
This method consistently produces hard-boiled eggs with shells that peel off easily.
Ingredients
6–12 large eggs
Water (enough to cover the eggs by about 1 inch)
Ice
Cold water
Instructions
Bring a pot of water to a full rolling boil.
Using a slotted spoon, gently lower the eggs into the boiling water.
Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a gentle boil.
Cook according to your preferred doneness:
9 minutes: Slightly creamy yolk
10–11 minutes: Firm but still creamy yolk
12 minutes: Fully set yolk
While the eggs cook, prepare a large bowl filled with ice and cold water.
As soon as the cooking time is up, transfer the eggs immediately to the ice bath.
Chill the eggs for 10–15 minutes.
The Foolproof Peeling Trick
Gently tap the egg all over to crack the shell.
Roll it lightly on the counter to loosen the shell.
